Measurement & privacy
Four signals, no reader profile
Not Not the News measures only whether readers finish Coverage Cases and Frame Notes, use Receipts, successfully subscribe, and return. No tracking pixels, cookies, cross-site identifiers, or advertising profiles are used.
Stable definitions
- Article completion
- Counted once per page load when the end of a Coverage Case or Frame Note enters the viewport.
- Receipt use
- Counted when a reader follows a source link in Receipts.
- Successful subscription
- Counted only after Loops accepts a subscription submission.
- Returning reader
- Counted once per browser per UTC day after its first recorded day. The browser stores only its most recent UTC visit day; that value is not sent to us.
Collection and retention
The aggregate measurement dataset stores only the event name and its automatic timestamp. It does not store page URLs, IP addresses, email addresses, user identifiers, or the browser’s visit day. Cloudflare Analytics Engine automatically deletes the aggregate data after three months.
A subscription separately sends the submitted email address to Loops so the update list can work. Failed measurement never blocks reading, Receipt links, or subscription.
